Kudan Kulam Nuclear Power Project 





KKNPP is the latest greenfield site of Nuclear Power Corporation and will have combined power generation capacity of 2000 MW.  The power production shall be through 2 numbers of 1000 MW each water-cooled water moderated pressure reactors.

KKNPP shall supply power to the southern grid. The power will be shared by Tamil Nadu (1250 MW), Andhra Pradesh (500 MW), Karnataka (200 MW) and Kerala (50 MW).  Situated at the southern tip of the eastern coast at the Gulf of Munnar, the first unit of this project is likely to go on stream by December 2006 and the second unit by March 2007.  This project will have several structural units like reactor buildings, turbine buildings, reactor auxiliary buildings, central control buildings, ventilation stack, hydro-technical structures, switch yards, test lab, etc. Overall approx. 12,00,000 cu.m of concrete will be poured for the construction of all these elements.

BASF Construction Chemicals India is supplying concrete admixtures for all the components of the project for various concrete grades starting from M10 to M50.
